American Northwest University in Central America is chartered by the government of Belize in Central America and fully licensed and approved by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health. The University is also in the process of obtaining the accreditation from Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP).
The university is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, published by the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, Switzerland and to be recognized by the Educational Commission on Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) for students to sit for the USMLE and to facilitate admission into a residency programs in the United States.
